  • Purpose Of The Job

    Indirect Senior Tax Accountant ensures proper tax compliance for global indirect tax.  Files and prepares US State Sales/Use tax returns, Non-US VAT Returns and Other indirect tax returns as needed.

    The position reports to Tax Manager.

    Responsibilities/Duties

    • Prepares and files sales and use tax returns timely and accurately; Realizes full discounts when available.
    • Prepares and files VAT returns timely and accurately.
    • Works with State auditors on indirect tax audits.
    • Assists in State Income tax compliance and gathering information for Income Tax audits.
    • Assists in month end close and prepare journal entries.
    • Prepares written communication Indirect Tax issues (i.e., refund claims, needed exemption forms, etc.)
    • Works with IT in updating tax rates for the global sites including researching and verifying rate changes for accuracy and timeliness, and validates monthly sales tax data.
    • Provides customer service to other teams as needed.
    • Prepares monthly journal entries timely and accurately.
    • Evaluates and recommends improvement to current methodology used to collect and report data for the required sales tax returns.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Requirements & Special Attributes

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
    • 2-4 years of experience in Indirect Tax.
    • Advanced MS Word, Excel and Outlook skills.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Highly organized, extremely detail oriented and able to multi-task in a fast paced, deadline driven environment with changing priorities
    • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
    • Self-directed and effective working independently, yet equally comfortable contributing in a team environment
    • Able to work in a matrixed organizational structure, developing strong relationships with all levels of management
    • Meets deadlines, prioritizes appropriately, copes well with change, and maintains composure under pressure.

Is accountable for results, approaches obstacles proactively, and looks for ways to resolve problems and issues.

    Physical Functions:

    Sitting required 90% of the time. Walking and standing required 5% of the time respectively. No heavy lifting required. Constant working on a computer.

    Equipment Used

    Standard office and computer equipment including MSOffice software.

    Work Environment

    Office cubicle environment with minimal exposure to the environment or health hazards.

    Must be able to speak, read, write and comprehend English.
