  • Purpose Of The Job

    The Web Editor writes, edits and produces compelling web-optimized content supplied by vendors and independent content providers, created by Newegg content team or submitted by customers. These contents include text, graphics, images, videos and other media suitable for web publishing and appealing to the target audience.

    Responsibilities/Duties

    • Proofread and edit web content, including Product Tours, produced by content creation team.
    • Proofread and edit vendor-supplied product content, including product images and videos and related marketing material, to produce web-ready content with proper grammar, consistent tone and technical accuracy.
    • Proofread and edit product content acquired from third-party content providers. Coordinate with such providers for content updates and any other necessary actions.
    • Create product content through independent research and cooperate with product managers, including copywriting and coding for web publishing.
    • Screen and edit customer submitted product content to ensure material is appropriate and liability-free for publishing according to company guidelines.
    • Collaborate with vendors to produce desirable product content on a regular basis and also for ad hoc projects striking the balance to inform and engage customers as well as promote vendors’ products.
    • Work with internal departments, including Product Management, Marketing, Web
    • Management, and Business System Development, to acquire necessary content, set priority schedule, coordinate marketing campaign launch and refresh calendar, and gather feedback for future reference.
    • Troubleshoot and recommend solutions to problems related to web content creation and publishing.

    Minimum Requirements & Special Attributes

    • Bachelor’s degree in English or Marketing, or equivalent experience.
    • 3+ years of experience in writing, editing, and producing web content with exposure in e-commerce environment.
    • A background in web marketing and merchandising is complementary.
    • Solid understanding of products and services of information technologies and consumer electronics is highly desirable.
    • Knowledge of SEO (search engine optimization) will be a big plus.
    • Super copywriting and editing skills.
    • Working knowledge of HTML and CSS.
    • Solid skills of image manipulation using Photoshop or similar programs.
    • Strong verbal and excellent written business communication skills.
    • Strong project management and production skills.
    • Knowledge of mobile web content production.
    • Knowledge of content management systems.
    • Knowledge of social media in business setting.
    • Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills.

    Essential Mental and Physical Functions

    Mental Functions:
    Decisions may affect a work unit or area within a department. May contribute to business and operational
    decisions that affect the department. This position performs a variety of routine duties within established
    policies and procedures or by referral to supervisor's guidelines.

    Physical Functions:
    Sitting required 90% of the time. Walking and standing required 5% of the time respectively. No
    heavy lifting required. Constant working on a computer.

    Equipment Used

    Standard office and computer equipment including MS Office software.

    Work Environment

    Office cubicle environment with minimal exposure to the environment or health hazards.
