  • Purpose Of The Job

    Responsible for completing the bi-weekly payroll processing cycle which includes review of employee timekeeping records; updating paycheck deductions and required withholdings and any other transactions which affect the employee paycheck.


    • Complete timely and accurate processing of bi-weekly payroll
    • Input related timekeeping and payroll data into computerized payroll system
    • Set up new hire files in payroll system
    • Records changes affecting net wages, such as exemptions, insurance coverage, and loan payments for each employee to update master payroll records
    • Work with payroll processor for the issuance of payroll checks
    • Audit and monitor time cards for completeness bi-weekly payroll processing
    • Assist with answering employee questions regarding payroll taxes, benefits and garnishments, if needed
    • May prepare payroll reports upon request
    • Other duties and/or projects as assigned by management.

    Minimum Requirements & Special Attributes

    College degree in a business/financial related field preferred
    4+ years of US payroll experience, Canadian payroll experience a plus
    1+ years of experience using a payroll processing system (ie. ADP, Paychex, etc.) preferred
    Solid understanding of payroll and payroll tax laws
    High attention to detail with focus on accuracy and maintaining confidentiality
    Excellent oral and written communication skills with all levels within an organization
    Ability to manage workload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, team-based environment
    Proficiency in using Microsoft Office with strong knowledge of MS Excel
    Excellent time management and organizational skills

    Mental Functions:
    Decisions have major implications on the management and operations of an area within a department. Job may contribute to important strategy, operational, and business decisions that affect the department. This position establishes procedures for attaining specific goals and objectives in a broad area of work. Only the final results of work done are typically reviewed.

    Physical Functions:
    Sitting required 90% of the time. Walking and standing required 5% of the time respectively. No heavy lifting required. Constant working on a computer.

    Equipment Used

    Standard office and computer equipment including MS Office software.

    Work Environment

    Office cubicle environment with minimal exposure to the environment or health hazards.

    Must be able to speak, read, write and comprehend English.
