  • Purpose Of The Job

    Lead worldwide global trade compliance strategy, policy, programs, tools and related projects to ensure compliance with export and import laws and regulations in all countries where Newegg operates.


    • Responsible for the leadership and development of direct reports and other indirect functional leads. Serve as a coach, subject matter expert and primary point of contact in the area of Global Trade Compliance (GTC) interpretation, assessment, and integration. Collaborates with global affiliates to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations affecting international trade.
    • Partner with corporate functions such as Legal, Finance, Tax, Research & Development, Product Management and all Newegg sites to leads and/or direct efforts to execute a globally compliant and cost optimized ecommerce supply chain. Ensure the function monitors are in place and communicates the impact of changing regulations to key stakeholders. By doing so, this position ensures the integration of necessary GTC work activities into other functions' work streams to deliver compliance reliability and coordinates supply chain risk assessment and mitigation strategies.
    • Designate product classifications according to tariff codes and seeks benefits through tariff strategies, utilization of Free Trade Agreements (FTA’s) and other available trade programs. Directs and coordinates all GTC governmental, regulatory and compliance reporting for the company.
    • Serve as primary interface with US Customs and Border Protection and other government agencies, outside legal counsel, trade compliance consultants, logistics service providers, foreign and domestic suppliers and distributors along with providing crisis management support to all of our businesses. Provide insight to the company in the areas of GTC trends, trade law development given the interests or strategic direction of Newegg and develop corporate and team capability where identified.
    • Recommend and leverage technology to implement process improvements or system redesign that will facilitate high quality, effective and efficient services. Coordinate requirements for the implementation of business systems that ensure Newegg maintains compliant with applicable government agencies regulations.
    • Remain current on U.S. import and export regulations. Review and interpret new requirements; Interface with U.S. Government agencies in order to communicate and implement controls at Newegg as appropriate.
    • Develop relationships with vendors, consultants, contractors, and professional associations to keep informed with existing and evolving industry standards and technologies for International Trade.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Requirements & Special Attributes

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, International Business, Finance or related field or 6 years directly related global trade compliance experience in lieu of bachelors
    • Master’s in Business Administration or other higher level education (desired).
    • A Customs Broker License is preferred.
    • Ability to acquire work/travel documents (i.e., passport and visa) as required by various countries.
    • 7-10 years of experience in the global trade/regulatory arena; experience with E-commerce strategies such as developing global marketplace sellers, global order fulfillment and returns procedures.
    • At least 2+ years of this experience should involve supervision / management / leadership of professionals. Autonomous /outstanding leadership, people development/coaching, outstanding customer service, strong social/communication/ influence skills, process integration capability, broad
      leadership experience, strong team working skills, general computer skills, analytical / risk management capability and geo-political awareness.
    • Analytical Problem Solving – able to use systematic approach in solving problems through analysis of problem and evaluation of alternative solutions.
    • Financial Analytical Skills (desired)
    • Demonstrated Project Management Skills are a must with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
    • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels within internal and customer organizations
    • Strong computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
    • Ability to acquire work/travel documents (i.e., passport and visa) as required by various countries.
    • Understanding of U.S. Customs and Border Protection Regulations, including knowledge of Customs valuation and classification under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule, C-TPAT, ISA, FTAs, ISF, etc.
    • Understand country of origin and marking issues, record keeping requirements, and supply chain security regulations as they relate to imports, etc. US and international import / export customs regulatory / agencies experience.

    position establishes procedures for attaining specific goals and objectives in a broad area of work. Only the
    final results of work done are typically reviewed.

    Physical Functions:
    Sitting required 90% of the time. Walking and standing required 5% of the time respectively. No heavy
    lifting required. Constant working on a computer.

    Equipment Used

    Standard office and computer equipment including MSOffice software.

    Work Environment

    Office cubicle environment with minimal exposure to the environment or health hazards.

    Travel Requirements

    5% - 10% domestic and/or international travel may be needed.
