Purpose Of The Job

To manage the overall marketing database structure, plan the deployment of statistical system capabilities, lead complicated analytic projects and own analytic requirements, and documentation.

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Provide customer behavior analysis: build statistic models to study the customer interests, study customer segments based on the customer behavior trends, conduct correlation research between customers and products, analyze the gap between individual customer needs and Newegg offers, and mine out the collective intelligence to improve personalization engines; understand and study the internal data available from the internal business system/process and utilize it to optimize the recommendation results.
  • Provide data and analysis in a timely manner, verify the accuracy of data analysis produced by self, or others using existing marketing data warehouse/ analytics systems. Work with frontend technical team to ensure data are delivered successfully and on schedule
  • Create new proposals on customer targeting modules based on the findings from the industry research and customer data analysis. Propose new personalization/recommendation rules and/or adjustments to improve the relevancy of Newegg offers to individual customer’s interest.
  • Build a report to track and analyze the personalization and recommendation results on product coverage and customer response; work with Module Maintenance Manager for adjustment on the data production rules or presentation logic to improve module performance.
  • Build new research roadmap based on self-initiatives and the research requirement collected from internal and external teams, integrating with the directions from corporate focus, department goal, performance gap and new opportunity findings; follow up and deliver timely analysis progress.
  • Plan and manage the deployment and ongoing execution of statistics/analytics systems; manage the marketing database structure, data intake, and analytics job production.
  • Liaise with other analysts and business teams to gather, develop, and own business requirement for strategic business questions; identify key indicators, discover data availability and source logics, verify raw data usability based on the business questions, ingest source data into Marketing database, validate results and monitor the daily import job execution. Translate business questions into data language to form appropriate data models to run analysis; interpret data results into business implications and product charts, tables, graphs, and business explanations and develop comprehensive business user-facing presentations
  • Manage the file logs for complete analytic procedures and logic flow, overseeing the overall quality of raw data intake and outcome data production and delivery, and develop comprehensive business-user-facing presentations with insightful data interpretation.
  • Responsible for conducting customer behavior analysis and industry research to develop behavior-driven customer targeting models and provide insights of customer trends in terms of what, why and how they are engaging with Newegg. Study customer’s potential needs via data mining and analytics procedures on customer data; building recommendation logics to provide more relevant offers to customers at the right time and appropriate buying process;
    monitoring the performance of the customer engagement to personalization features and all other customer touch points; and propose new targeting modules or rule adjustment to improve the relevancy of Newegg offers to individual customer's interest.
  • Conduct industry research among competitors, 3rd-party service providers, and related social network websites for the new customer-driven functions, personalization/recommendation features, and other social features applicable for various marketing channels in Newegg.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements & Special Attributes

  • Bachelor degree in Statistics/Econometrics/Information System/Computer Science or 8 years directly related experience in lieu of bachelor’s degree; or Master Degree plus 6 yrs experience in personalization application/customer segmentation research /marketing research and business analysis with at least 2 of the 6 with experience in online retail industry
  • 5 yrs experience in personalization application / customer segmentation research /marketing research and business analysis
  • 3 year+ system analysis in business intelligence or data mining and experience in T-SQL / SAS / R programming.
  • Deep understanding on the e-commerce transaction procedures and customers buying behaviors;
  • Firm understanding of statistics and its application on business utilization, proven background of identifying, solving, and communicating complex problems;
  • Strong analytical, debugging and problem solving skills;
  • Ability to apply statistical calculations in performing business/ marketing programs;
  • Ability to propose feasible ideas based on data findings;
  • Must be detail oriented and self-motivated;
  • Be able to work under pressure and meet changing deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills;
  • Professional in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
  • Frequently work across various internal function teams (i.e. MIS, BI, DBA, etc.) to conduct necessary data transfer, verify logics, execute data jobs, and deliver data outcome.Work with internal business teams as needed (i.e. Product Management,
    other marketing channels and teams, other BU’s, and etc..) to gather and clarify business questions / requirements and interpret data insight.

Essential Mental and Physical Functions

Mental Functions:
Decisions may affect a work unit or area within a department. May contribute to business and
operational decisions that affect the department. This position develops procedures for
performance of a variety of duties or performs complex duties within established policy guidelines.

Physical Functions:
Sitting required 90% of the time. Walking and standing required 5% of the time respectively. No
heavy lifting required. Constant working on a computer.

Equipment Used

Standard office and computer equipment including MS Office software.

Work Environment

Office cubicle environment with minimal exposure to the environment or health hazards.

Language Skills

Must be able to speak, read, write and comprehend English. Bilingual - Mandarin preferred.
