Purpose Of The Job

This position is responsible for providing engineering supports to various logistics projects managed in CP department, which typically include expansion projects such as setting up new distribution centers, implementing material handling conveyor system as well as introducing new technologies or process improvement to achieve higher efficiency or lower costs in company’s global network..

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Assist Sr. Director to design, build, and improve order fulfillment systems throughout the logistics network, including new distribution centers, conveyor system, racking system or material handling equipment.
  • Manage global expansion and reengineering projects.
  • Lead and coordinate design efforts between internal teams and outside vendors to develop optimal solutions for the network, including equipment specification, material flow, process design, and site layout.
  • Manage capital projects; create conceptual drawings, equipment specifications and bid documentation to facilitate a competitive bid environment.
  • Prepare RFQ on project. Evaluate bids from each vendor and make recommendations from both technical and financial standpoints.
  • Develop and manage budget and contract documents including RFPs, change order controls, purchase orders, and invoicing.
  • Work with BSA & MIS on logistics system refinement and improvement as well as user trainings.
  • Establish standards and measurements to gauge operational efficiency.
  • Monitor and enforce project schedules and quality with vendors or subcontractors.
  • Work with material handling equipment, packaging lines and process design based on Lean Manufacturing principles.

Minimum Requirements & Special Attributes

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, preferably in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
  • Driver license is required for travels
  • 6-9 years’ work experience in facility design, material handling, best practices and work standards to increase product flow and warehouse capacity while optimizing labor.
  • Knowledge of logistics and material handling related systems, technology and equipment is a plus
  • Familiarity with WMS (warehouse management system) and other related operation system platforms is a plus.
  • Advanced PC capabilities in word processing, spreadsheets, CAD, presentations and/or flowcharting Familiarity with AutoCAD and MS Project is a plus
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong problem solving abilities.
  • Ability to lead, manage and communicate with all levels of operations.
  • Mandarin speaking is a plus for managing Asia projects and communicating to Asian vendors.
  • Work or intern experience in Greater China Area is a plus

Essential Mental and Physical Functions

Mental Functions:
Decisions have major implications on the management and operations of an area within a Department. Job may contribute to important strategy, operational, and business decisions that affect the department. This position develops procedures for performance of a variety of duties or performs complex duties within established policy guidelines.

Physical Functions:
Sitting required 40% of the time, walking and standing required 55%, lifting 5% of the time (up to 50lbs).

Equipment Used

Standard office and computer equipment including MSOffice software. Hired candidate will be trained to drive different types of lift trucks.

Work Environment

Standard office environment with limited exposure to elements or health hazards.
Standard warehouse environment with limited exposure to elements or health hazards.

None

Language Skills

Must be able to speak, read, write and comprehend English. Mandarin fluency is also a plus.

Travel Requirements

Up to 25% overnight domestic or international travel is expected depending on projects.
