Purpose Of The Job

Category Manager at Newegg Marketplace, Consumer Electronics and IT (CE/IT) main role is to develop and implement strategies to grow the various assigned categories within the CE/IT domain through leveraging internal content and technical resource, identifying and acquiring new strategic partnerships, expanding selection and availability of product assortment. They will work closely with domain Director and other category managers to develop and execute a Category Development strategy. Category Managers will be required to identify and acquire new partners through cold calling and networking, leading to successful contract negotiations and onboarding. Additionally, CMs are required to manage new and existing seller accounts to ensure consistent growth in sales and product selection to meet preset goals. Finally, the category manager will work closely with many internal teams to fully utilize Newegg’s marketing and merchandizing vehicles, web content optimization, integrate new seller accounts and ultimately provide a better shopping experience to our customers.


  • Develop and execute Seller acquisition strategy to grow seller portfolio with high performing Marketplace sellers, key industry leaders and well established local, national and global brands.
  • Develop and execute Category strategies to maximize revenue, profitability, product selection and customer shopping experience.
  • Generate annual sales forecast for assigned categories within CE/IT domain
  • Work with Merchandising & Marketing team to develop key promotional/sales plans with strategic partners that create and drive revenue, traffic and category growth.
  • Direct category management initiatives ensuring requirements are gathered and projects are implemented that optimize and promote marketplace’s products, features and functionality.

Minimum Requirements & Special Attributes

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business/Marketing,
  • 3 years of work experience in Ecommerce Business Development.
  • Strong industry knowledge of Marketplace model.
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience in setting goals and maximizing profitability.
  • Must be able to write, read, analyze and interpret technical/financial product materials.
  • Strong verbal and written presentation skills.

Essential Mental and Physical Functions

Mental Functions:
Decisions may affect a work unit or area within a department. May contribute to business and operational decisions that affect the department. This position develops procedures for performance of a variety of duties or performs complex duties within established policy guidelines.

Physical Functions:
Sitting required 80% of the time. Walking and standing required 10% of the time. No heavy lifting required
